My son is three years old, soon to be four. He doesn’t attend a preschool, but we try to teach him as much as possible at home. Education is a high priority for our family and we’re trying to become more structured with how we introduce him to new topics. It’s easy to fall into the same routine and get complacent. So, in order to keep myself on track I decided to create a weekly schedule for the entire year of topics to teach him. The awesome thing is that I can hang on to these to use these themes with my younger son as well! I’ve decided to share them with you all, so if you’re thinking of doing the same thing with your little ones, feel free to use some of these ideas!
Weekly themes for preschool:
Calendar (months, days, years)
Chinese New Year
Space (planets, dwarf planets, moons, asteroids)
April Fools Day
Fruits & Vegetables
4th of July
Countries of the World
Exercise & Fitness
Other winter holidays (Hanukkah, Kwanzaa)
I printed out a calendar from Printable 2017 Calendars for free and then just wrote each weeks topic on the Monday of the week. I tried to stick with things that were relevant to the season or holiday and then filled in with extra. I also added a few to this that I didn’t use for more ideas. I refer back to it frequently as I try to look ahead and plan for the upcoming weeks. I will also be sharing some of the activities we use for the weeks as well. Please bookmark this page and keep coming back as I update it to link to more ideas as we complete the weeks.
