Intro
I had the opportunity this week to preview a new movie that comes out TODAY, July 27, 2018, Teen Titans Go! To The Movies. I brought along my 5-year-old son and we made it into a mommy-son date. We had a blast!

Ok, full disclosure here. I’d never seen Teen Titans Go!, the TV show, or really any other superhero movie. So I did a little research before we arrived. There have been 5 seasons of the show on Cartoon Network, which features lesser known heroes and sidekicks as teenagers. They live together in a tower, and we explore their world as adventure seekers and capture glimpses into their immature hijinks.
The Movie
Having not seen the show before, I was concerned I would be a bit lost, but they did an excellent job of fully introducing all the characters. The opening scene where they fight a large inflated villain got us giggling and I knew it was off to a good start.
Robin, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven and Starfire are a dynamic team, with each character bringing their own strength to the group. They want to be taken seriously as superheros to help Robin fulfill his dream of starring in his own movie. They decide they need an arch nemesis and find themselves feuding with a less-than-willing Slade.
The laughs continue throughout the film to a plot twist and the finale. The PG rating was deserved, as there were a few “potty” jokes and a couple of things that went over my 5-year-olds head. He still definitely enjoyed it, but at one point turned to me and asked why they said a “bad word”. I think around age 8 would be perfect to see the film.
Bottom Line
This is a movie most everyone can enjoy! You don’t have to be a Teen Titans Go! super fan to follow along, but there are inside jokes that the super fans will appreciate. I think we will seek out more Teen Titans Go! material in the future.
BONUS: During the credits there was a where the characters came back on the screen to hint at a possible upcoming season 6, which got the crowd VERY excited! Seems like there is more to look forward to in the future!
