With a new baby, breastfeeding can be a challenge. It’s a learning process for both mom and baby! There can be quite a debate about what’s appropriate in public, and no matter your feelings about that, sometimes privacy is nice. When you’re working on perfecting a strong latch, concentration is key. Minimizing noises, bright lights, and distractions will help you to focus on the task at hand and keep you relaxed.
Shortly after my son was born we took a trip to Babies R Us in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake to pick up a few things. As babies tend to do, he got hungry while we were there. While my husband took our 3-year-old over to the toy section to browse, I headed over to the “Mother’s Room”.
This is a private room – with rocking chairs, dim lights, and a changing table. It’s designed knowing that there are many new moms shopping in their store.
Finding the right timing to complete errands with little ones in tow can be a challenge. As soon as the newborn is done nursing, the clock has begun until he needs to feed again. Once you think you’re ready to walk out the door, someone’s lost their shoes, or needs a new diaper.
There are few places where you’d be able to find a comfortable spot to sit down and nurse. Maybe somewhere with a dressing room, but definitely not at the grocery store! The rarity makes this even more valuable. If you need to head out to pick up some baby items, I suggest checking this place out! If you need to feed your baby, you’ll have a quiet comfy place to sit!
